AFA U10's to play against EVERTON at MPF.
Everton Under 9's are over in Marbella later this month as we head up to our presentation evening, and have invited local teams to play against their strong under 9s team.
The match will take place on 20th June at 4pm at the MPF in San Pedro.
Please come and support AFA.

AFA MARBELLA YOUTH FOOTBALL TEAM REACH EUROPEAN FINALS (Article from The Town Crier)
Last weekend, the local AFA/Pablo Picasso Marbella under 14’s (Infantil) football team entered the equivalent of the “Champions League” tournament in Dusseldorf – Germany, where they had to compete against all the top professional teams and academies from the leading European Leagues.
AFA Marbella were the only non - professional club amongst the other top 20 professional clubs taking part.

END OF SEASON PRESENTATION 21st June 2008
Dear Parents and Players, as you will have seen from our end of season letter, the End of season presentation will be held from 2pm on the 21st June 2008 at the Robin Hood pub next to the crowne plaza hotel in benamara/benavista.

This marks the close of our season until August. Please make sure that you all arrive on time, so we can start promptly. Mark Beard our new coaching director (pictured below) will introduce himself, and there will be a short presentation on the new Soccer Centre in La Cala. All plans for next season will be revealed and its the perfect chance for us all to catch up, as the players all receive their well deserved trophies after a hard and enjoyable season. Players will be fed, and food will be available for parents and families to buy on the day. There will be live music and entertainment.

DUE TO OUR RELATIONSHIP WITH BOTH FULHAM FC AND PETERRBORO, AND DUE TO OUR CONTINUED EXPLANTION, AFA MARBELLA ARE DELITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT TRAINING WILL BE HELD NEXT SEASON AF MPFS IN ADDITION TO OUR EXISTING FACILITIES AT LA CANADA. MFPS IS UNDOUBTEDLY ONE OF THE BEST FOOTBALL FACILITIES IN EUROPE.

Fulham and Stevenage Trials go well

5 Under 16 players pictured above at Fulham returned from their week in the UK full of confidence for the future. Zach, Phil, Charlie, Sam and Lewis impressed at both Fulham and Stevenage during the course of the week are have been invited back for further trials as the new season starts.

afa marbella host dawlish united at MPF in Marbella

Last week AFA Marbella had visitors Dawlish United visit. Dawlish are an FA Charter Club and brought a strong team to play against us and Pablo Picasso.
Dawlish proved to strong against our Under 14 C team, although man of the match Dennis kept the score down, Dawlish ran our 7-4 winners. Later in the week, Dawlish beat Pablo Picasso 3-2, but were well beaten by AFA on Friday night by some great football and an emphatic 4-0 victory.

Well done to all the players who took part. We hope you enjoyed the facilities at the MPF which were magnificent despite the rain. It was great to see so many parents along to support as well. Special thanks to John Challinor and his team at Dawlish. your players were a credit to your club and we sincerely hope you enjoyed your stay. lets hope next time you come back the sun is shining. We will most definately be joining up with Dawlish later this year for a return visit to Somerset in the UK.

Above, the under 10's from AFA and Pablo Picasso lead out the teams for UD Marbella's last home match. The under 10's also played at Half time vs Marbella Paraiso. Well done to everyone that took part. This marks our close relations with the Marbella as we try to work together on their academy set up. In the weeks to come, our under 19s will be training with Marbella. If anyone is interested in tickets to home matches, these can also be bought through AFA at discounted rates. lets get behind our local team. who knows.. soon you could be watching AFA players there anyway!


The boys dun good!
In a busy week, the U14A team finished the week with some fantastic performances in the tournament organised by head coach Thomas. After beating Werder Bremen 6-4 in a thrilling training match on Friday, AFA marched into the Tournament full of confidence. After losing to a penalty goal 1-0 to a strong and well organised Sevilla team, AFA went on to win the rest of their games, including revenge on Sevilla in the afternoon winning the tournament and bringing the first piece of silverware to AFA this season. Well done to everyone involved.

Werder Bremen Training with AFA This past Week
This week, the Werder Bremen youth team are being entertained by our U14'. Friday saw AFA win 6-4 in a thoroughly entertaining match, and next up is the tournament this Sunday which will also feature Sevilla. The tournament starts at 11am on Sunday 3rd Feb 2008. The Werder players are being put up by AFA Parents and our boys will have the chance to go to Germany later this year.
If you are free this Sunday please take some time to support AFA who will be playing at the Las Chapas Stadium.

 Good Luck as the Premiership beckons

U16's team captain Leroy Van der Helm left AFA this week to start with his new club - Premier League Wigan Athletic. He is pictured here at the last game with Academy Director Craig Mander.

Leroy has worked hard this season, and was rewarded when he went to Manchester City and Wigan before Christmas.

Everyone at AFA & Pablo Picasso wish him and his family all the best, and look forward to seeing him make his debut in the premier league soon!
